Why Damai Abode

What Makes Living Here Different

We are not a facility — Damai Abode is a home shaped by Sabah's landscape, its people, and a sincere desire to make later life genuinely good.

Rooted in Sabah's Nature

Our residence sits within a living garden. Daily life here includes access to outdoor spaces, seasonal plants, and the quiet rhythms of Borneo's natural environment.

Home-Style Sabahan Meals

Three meals a day prepared with fresh local ingredients. We draw on Sabahan and Malaysian recipes — familiar flavours cooked with care, not institutional catering.

A Real Community

Residents share meals, tend gardens together, and gather for cultural evenings. Relationships form here — with neighbours, staff, and the wider Kota Kinabalu community.

Attentive Daytime Care

Our team is present and approachable. Daytime staff know each resident by name, and the Alcove Suite includes a personal companion who supports individual preferences.

Kadazan-Dusun Cultural Life

Craft workshops, traditional storytelling, and cultural exchange evenings keep residents connected to Sabah's rich heritage. Living here means staying part of something larger.

Flexible Monthly Arrangements

Each room is offered on a monthly basis with orientation support. Families can visit comfortably, and we help coordinate celebration events and seasonal outings.

Wondering If Damai Abode Could Feel Like Home?

The best way to understand what life is like here is to come for a visit or have a quiet conversation with our team. There is no pressure — just an open door.

Questions & Answers

Common Questions

We know that choosing a residence for yourself or a family member takes careful thought. Here are the questions we hear most often.

What types of rooms are available?
We offer three arrangements: the Mountain View Room (RM 2,200/mo), the Nature Harmony Programme (RM 2,700/mo), and the Kinabalu Alcove Suite (RM 3,250/mo). Each varies in size, personal support, and activity access. You can read the full details on our Solutions page.
Are meals included in the arrangement?
Yes. All arrangements include three daily meals prepared with fresh local ingredients. We cook Sabahan and Malaysian recipes, and we take dietary preferences and sensitivities into account when preparing meals for each resident.
Can family members visit?
Absolutely. Family visits are warmly welcomed. We have communal spaces for gatherings and can help coordinate special occasions. The Kinabalu Alcove Suite includes dedicated family visit and celebration coordination as part of the arrangement.
What activities are offered at Damai Abode?
Depending on the arrangement, activities include gentle movement sessions, community gardening, botanical art, bird-watching groups, Kadazan-Dusun craft workshops, cultural exchange evenings, and weekly excursions to local parks, hot springs, and markets. The Nature Harmony Programme and Alcove Suite offer the fullest programme.
Is Damai Abode medically staffed?
Damai Abode is a non-medical senior living residence. We are not a nursing home or healthcare facility. Our staff provide attentive day-to-day support and companionship, but for medical needs residents would work with their own doctors or local healthcare providers.
How does the monthly arrangement work?
Rooms are arranged on a monthly basis. When a new resident moves in, we provide an orientation period to help them settle in and get familiar with the rhythm of the residence and the other residents. Our team is happy to discuss specifics during an enquiry call or visit.
Can residents bring their own furniture or belongings?
Yes, within reason. Rooms can be personalised with photographs, smaller items of sentimental value, bedding preferences, and similar belongings. We ask that residents speak with us before bringing large furniture pieces so we can ensure comfortable arrangements for everyone.
